Mugaya is an orphan who lost his father and the mum cannot pay for his school and other needs since she sells second hand clothes and does peasant work in order to care for Mugaya’s other four siblings.

Mugaya’s father was called M Mugaya Mwamula and he was a peasant too before he passed away. He was not able to leave any inheritance for the children. He had only been able afford to rent one small room for his whole family to sleep in.
